As for cheap places to live - it depends on the needs of the UR .. If you spot - there are many homes in the northern interior - like Brunswick and West. about $ 190 + for a studio.
It has also been in the south-east and south of the Yarra and St Kilda - St Kilda is abit cheaper, but still a pleasant place to live, not as stirred St Kilda.
